UCLIC is the leading UK Centre of Excellence in Human-Computer Interaction, working collaboratively with industry and the research community and drawing on the best scientific traditions in Computer Science and Psychology.
UCLIC research a range of phenomena related to Human-Computer Interaction, including human error, digital libraries and information work, exploratory search, design practice, novel interaction, engagement and learning, experience preservation and the social, organisational and cultural impacts of technology. In some cases they look at these in specific contexts (e.g. healthcare, journalism, law, emergency services), and uses a range of methodologies including cognitive modelling, experimentation, formal analysis and in-vivo, qualitative methods.

Eye tracking at UCLIC
The Tobii eye tracker is mainly used for academic research. Currently, UCLIC are investigating interactive web menu search and using eye-movement metrics to infer on search strategies. Other projects include applying eye tracking to studying certain aspects of digital libraries, immersion during game playing and the validity of eye tracking in web usability tests.
UCLIC have provided consultancy to a well known usability testing company who required the use of the Tobii with the expertise of USCLIC to run web usability tests for a major international client.
