Junior developer with HCI experience to the X-team

Tobii Tech focuses on integrating Tobii’s core eye tracking technology and user experience into laptops, games, VR, cars, and many more products. If you want to be part of pioneers that take gaze control to new, exciting mass markets, we may have just the job for you!

Do you want to shape the future of gaze interaction and work on exciting concepts years into the future? Do you have a passion for finding the right mix between creative hacking and applied research in a HCI environment? If so, we might have the position you are looking for!

In this role you will start working in a project in the X-team and further on get to try different tasks in our different teams. If you want to try different areas in Tobii – this is your opportunity.

In Tobii’s X-Team we investigate eye tracking and interaction concepts with a time frame of 24 months. In a small team of highly motivated independent thinkers we investigate what might redefine eye trackers, the desktop and beyond. We don’t consider us developers, UX or scientists, but we can be any if the situation demands it. Our outputs are prototypes, leads and knowledge, and we try to take the fastest path to core of a question.

The role and responsibilities

Your role will be to take on different projects and ideas and investigate them further. This is an exciting opportunity, where you will explore the future of eye tracking and interaction in a unique blend of hacking, research and general wizardry.

We offer you

  • A position in the X-Team, Tobii’s spearhead team for future interactions and eye tracking concepts
  • Work in a fast-paced, highly agile “no-week-like-the-other” team
  • Brilliant and fun colleagues

We are looking for someone who

  • Has practical HCI and user interface experience.
  • Can hack things deep in the system level and has very good engineering skills - and has found the perfect balance between the two.
  • Has good programming skills, preferably in C# and JavaScript / TypeScript (e.g., contributed to or founded open source projects).
  • Has an M Sc. in computer science, physics or equivalent.

We find it to be a strong merit if you have knowledge in eye tracking technology.

To be successful in this role and at Tobii you need to be self-going and manage to work with very little specification and high system uncertainty. Since you will work in a fast-pace environment, we need you to be flexible and have the ability and will to switch between different projects.

Please address your questions to Ralf Biedert (ralf.biedert@tobii.com), and submit your resume through our website as soon as possible. Attached to it should be a brief cover letter, recent grade transcripts, and a proof of prior experience in HCI or other projects (e.g., links to projects / code of yours, published papers, …). Don’t wait, at Tobii we move quickly!
