This Reimbursement Services Director is responsible for the execution of tactical reimbursement programs and the development of tools associated with the tactical programs. The Director is responsible for creating innovative reimbursement support programs for internal and external customers. Responsibilities also include development and execution (as required) of sales force and account management training materials related to reimbursement support programs.

This positions will be a key resource in maintaining revenue, and establishing, implementing and controlling the billing system and supervising staff as part of Revenue Cycle Management.

This role will work closely with Field Sales, Funding, Senior Management and other departments to ensure contracts are properly implemented and revenue maximized. This role is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize initiatives and work cross-functionally to improve processes.

The role and responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and manage successful relations with national, regional and state insurers, Medicaid agencies, managed care organizations and preferred provider organization networks in order to maximize reimbursement
  • Plans, develops, and implements revisions and enhancements to reimbursement programs, creates standard operating policies and procedures, and obtains necessary approvals for implementation of revised or new services
  • Evaluates and documents client needs and all aspects of business processes both operational and financial, including current process analysis; and proposed revisions to optimize business processes.
  • Directs the tracking, analysis, and reporting of funding, collections and reimbursement program results
  • Meet account receivable operational standards through the management of all aspects of the reimbursement function, including prior authorization, billing and collections
  • Directs the planning and coordination of reimbursement research, payer policy analysis, and reimbursement data analysis to support the corporate reimbursement strategy
  • Research and understand state, regional and national payer trends and identify opportunities and challenges to maximize reimbursement
  • Directs the timely preparation and distribution of payer updates, research results, and the results of reimbursement data analysis to internal stakeholders
  • Act as a resource and advocate to Funding, Collection and Reimbursement Managers on initiatives related to Medicaid and Medicare, managed care, other government insurance programs, private third party payers and related matters
  • Work with Financial Analyst on issues as it affects claim payments, denials, and short pays
  • Work closely with marketing, sales management, and Reimbursement Managers to develop innovative, customer-focused, product reimbursement programs and tools that provide customer value and competitive advantage
  • Interact with legal, regulatory, advocacy, service, and fulfillment resources to manage programs within approved legal and regulatory guidelines and to coordinate corporate needs
  • Directs the development of field reimbursement training materials and tools for the reimbursement programs, and coordinates the execution of reimbursement training as required
  • Develop relationships with key opinion leaders, influential with assigned payer
  • Prepare and manage annual budget for departmental expenses based on current environment and anticipated future growth and develop and produce statistical and financial reports in conjunction with the reporting needs of management
  • Perform various other duties as assigned

We are looking for someone who has the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Policy or related field
  • 7+ years leadership experience in the healthcare reimbursement environment preferably within the medical device industry
  • Detailed knowledge of coding, billing and payment systems in healthcare
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in A/R management, charge entry, billing, collections, and payment posting
  • Experience with revenue cycle and reimbursement
  • Experience with ICD-10 coding and terminology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to present effectively
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel and Word skills

We find it to be a strong merit if you have excellent understanding of Medicare and private payer billing and coding as well as have an understanding of and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
