NEW FEATURES IN TOBII STUDIO 1.5

Tobii Studio 1.5 has several new features and improvements, most of which are introduced below.

Animated visualizations

Animated gaze plots, heatmaps and cluster visualizations show where people look over time so you can produce even more compelling presentations. Animated visualizations are exported as movies, representing the gaze data of a single participant or the accumulated gaze data of several participants over time.

Full screen replay

Present and study replays of individual test sessions in full screen mode. User camera and/or timeline are optional. Full screen mode replay shows the recorded media in its original size, making them more readable for qualitative analysis.

Mouse click statistics

Statistics can now be calculated for mouse clicks as well as for mouse clicks combined with gaze data. Now you can measure call to action, site architecture efficiency and participant preferences. For instance, how long does it take for a participant to click on a button after seeing it, or how many participants select a certain object. The following metrics have been added:

  • Time from fixation to click
  • Time to first mouse click
  • Mouse click count
  • First fixation duration as metric

First fixation duration has been added as gaze data metric in the statistics tool for additional insights into user experiences. According to Just & Carpenter (1976), longer fixation duration indicates either difficulty in extracting information, or that the object is more engaging in some way.

PDF as stimulus

PDF documents can be used as stimulus, facilitating display of print ads, newspaper spreads and other study objects. PDF stimulus allows participants to navigate through the PDF document and move back and forth between the pages. This is a more natural way for participants to interact with stimuli like magazine spreads.

Copy & paste of media elements

Copy and paste media from the Studio test timeline within a test as well as between different tests belonging to the same project. This will save lots of time when reusing the same set of stimuli.

Improved Track Status with distance meter

A meter showing the subject’s distance to the eye tracker has been added to the Track Status feature. The meter is present when starting Track Status, either separately from the view menu or when starting a recording or calibration. It helps guide the test participant to the ideal starting position in front of the Tobii Eye Tracker, so that the maximum amount of head movement space can be used during the test.

Improved calibration area and speed settings

When only a part of the screen will be used to display an image or movie, you can limit calibration to this part of the screen. You can also select the speed at which a calibration is performed. This will increase the overall accuracy and success of a calibration.

Automatic application launch during a screen recording

Now you can set Studio to start an external application automatically when starting a screen recording.

Project library

With the new project architecture, you can copy and paste projects between different computers that can then be linked to a project library. This new project library allows for easy project management. When you start Tobii Studio a Tobii Studio Project Library window appears where you can view and manage the projects that you have created.
