As part of the efforts to establish how to quantify and qualify foveated rendering, Tobii’s engineer and product team conducted the benchmarking tests based on Nvidia VRS foveation in Showdown VR and conducted on HTC Vive Pro eye & RTX2070 with 3x super sampling. The results are amazing. The shading load reduces by 57% with an average shading rate of 16%. With dynamic foveated rendering, a smoother frame rate is achieved. It's also observed that the higher the resolution, the more savings of pixels. Dynamic foveated rendering also enables developers to improve scene quality.
